Stephanie David
Registered Psychologist & Supervisor

I have been a registered psychologist for 15 years, and created FLIP psychology because I wanted a space where I could be the best version of myself as a therapist, and practice psychology in a way that is authentically me. My passion is working with teens and young adults (and their families) to provide support and encouragement during a time in life where big emotions and transitions reign supreme. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to explore life challenges, self concept, and relationships with a focus on making positive shifts to live a more fulfilling life.

I have some other important roles in my life too. I am active in teaching psychology courses at Athabasca University, as well as supervising/mentoring provisional psychologists. I am mom to a couple of my own kids who keep me perpetually on the go, and I have a big orange cat named Buster Moon. I also really love coffee, distance running, and growing avocado plants.

Spoiler alert - I am also an imperfect human with an imperfect life. Some people think psychologists are people who live perfect lives with perfect relationships, perfect self-care, perfect families… blah, blah, blah… simply not true. Just another human being trying to live an authentic life over here, and I hope to help you live yours.

Amanda Skwarok
Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hello, I’m Amanda Skwarok, a Registered Provisional Psychologist dedicated to supporting teens, young adults, and families through life’s many challenges. My journey began as a teacher, where I saw firsthand how complex life can feel for young people and their families. That experience shaped my passion for creating safe, supportive spaces where individuals feel understood and empowered to grow.

In my practice, I take a holistic, person-centered approach that draws on evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Somatic Experiencing. My focus is on helping clients build tools that foster resilience, balance, and well-being, not just in the therapy room, but in everyday life.

Outside of work, the mountains are my second home. I love hiking, camping, kayaking, and paddleboarding in the summer, and skiing or snowshoeing when winter rolls in. Creativity is another big part of who I am, I play guitar and sing, dabble in art, and share life’s adventures with my dog, June. These passions keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of play, curiosity, and connection.

As Stephanie has pointed out, I am also not a perfect human with a perfectly put-together life. Just like everyone else, I’m learning, growing, and doing my best to navigate the ups and downs of life. My goal is to offer the same compassion and support that others have offered me along the way.
